Expat-ish Podcast

Stories from the in-between life, shared by expats and wanderers alike.

About Expat-ish

Expat-ish is a podcast for the in-between life. Two American women who left the U.S. talk honestly about what happens after the move: the messy middles, the homesickness, the career pivots, the new loves, and the “am I the drama or is it the culture?” moments.

Hosted from the English countryside and an Italian city, Expat-ish feels like a cross–time zone call with a friend who gets it: honest, unpolished, and full of the things that never make it into relocation guides.

Who Expat-ish is for

Expat-ish is for you if:

  • You live outside your passport country, or you want to

  • You’ve moved for love, work, safety, or straight-up curiosity

  • You feel split between cultures, languages, or family expectations

  • You’re tired of glossy “move abroad and be free” narratives

  • You want smart, honest, sometimes spicy conversations about what this life actually costs and gives back

Meet Your Hosts

Janice is a Dominican New Yorker living in Italy, a longtime expat who has rebuilt life, work, and identity across borders more than once. She brings sharp strategy brain, Queens energy, and a deep obsession with how people create safety, money, and meaning in new countries.

Together, they hold space for the women who don’t fit the “digital nomad” cliché and are building real lives abroad, one decision and one story at a time.

Trice is a Chicago native who moved to the U.K. for love and stayed to build a life that crosses cultures, communities, and class. She brings her gift for gathering people, telling the truth with humor, and naming the things most of us only think in our heads.

What We Talk About

The themes that keep showing up in our cross-border lives, from love and money to home and who we are now

Identity & belonging

What it means to be from one place, live in another, and carry more than one story in your body.

Love, family & friendships

The small frictions, unspoken rules, everyday joys, and weird habits we pick up to survive and belong.

Culture shocks & daily life
Work, money & visas

Careers that don’t fit a single country, the real cost of moving, and the pressure to “make it worth it.”

Home, roots & return

How “home” changes, what it means to stay, leave, or go back, and why return is rarely simple.

Loneliness, connection, finding your people, and the emotional work of holding yourself together in a new place.
